JLL launch Lygon Place live across the globe

Sitting high above Melbourne’s CBD on level 40, 101 Collins Street last week was a room full of high-level property professionals. The exclusive group of Investorist members were given the unique opportunity to meet the incredible team behind JLL’s brand new project, Lygon Place.

The team included JLL’s Director of Residential Anthony Ferraro,  Design Director of Peddle Thorpe Peter Brooke, and the project developer Colin De Lutis. Also in attendance were legal and financial experts who were able to offer network partners advice on enabling sales for their offshore clients.

The drinks and canapés were devoured quickly as guests eagerly anticipated the presentation, which was streamed live and viewed by over 80 groups of people all over the world. The Investorist China office had a viewing party of their own with a large group of members and many of JLL’s global offices did the same thing.

Jon Ellis, Founder of Investorist, introduced the presenters and handed over to Anthony to give an overview of the project and investment fundamentals. Anthony focused on how Brunswick had grown quickly to become one of Melbourne’s most highly sought-after locations in the last few years. Just 4.2 km from the CBD with excellent public transport links, Lygon Place is ideally positioned to take advantage of the student population at Melbourne’s most popular and prestigious university, the University of Melbourne. He also commented that the boutique project of 96 apartments was very well priced, with one bedrooms starting at $345,000.

Colin revealed the unique story behind the well-positioned lot of land on which Lygon is to be built. He bought the land in 1980 to house his first jeans factory as the original founder of Westco Jeans. In 2000, Colin sold 160 stores  and has reinvested the profits into property ever since, having developed “every category of property”  including hotels, office buildings, shopping centres, and other boutique residential projects. He assured everyone in the room that “this building will be built.”

Peter highlighted Peddle Thorpe’s unique position as Australia’s leading architects, having worked on more residential projects in Melbourne than any other company.  Six years in the making, Peter describes Lygon Place as being “in one of the most exciting locations” he has seen in Peddle Thorpe’s entire portfolio of projects. A trip to New York was the primary inspiration behind the building’s design, with Peter describing the design as “simple, elegant and refined with high quality finishes”.

There were a lot of questions asked online through the live chat as well as from the audience in attendance, many focused around purchases for international buyers and how to reserve stock. As soon as the presentation concluded most of the room rushed to see Anthony and JLL Channel Manager Luke Rowatt to reserve allocations for their clients. With some groups taking up to 15 allocations at once, over 50% of the stock was allocated within the hour. The scene rivalled that of a boxing day sale.

Watch the full presentation filmed live on the night to find out everything you need to know about this exciting new project including apartment breakdowns, size of apartments, car parks, and more.
